The Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP) is a nonprofit that works to restore oysters, support commercial fisheries and aquaculture, and protect the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Since 1994, ORP has planted more than 11.5 billion oysters, recycled over 300,000 bushels of shell, and restored 3,000 acres of reef, thanks to support from partners like the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) and the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science Horn Point Lab. ORP’s Sustainable Fisheries Program helps watermen and seafood businesses by developing digital tools, improving harvest reporting, and promoting sustainable practices throughout the seafood supply chain.
